Hello, my name is Ken Fuerst.
You might find my website just a bit different than other painter sites you’ve visited. How many times have you hired a painting company and the only time you saw the owner was when it was time for them to get a check? We are a company with attention to detail where the boss is always on the job.
I was born and raised in Albany and have been in the painting business for over 45 years. I am a fourth generation painter first working with my grandfather and great grandfather. Their business, OTTO Ruggiero & Son, began in Albany NY. I continued painting and decorating with my father, Carl Fuerst, and in the early 1990’s began my own business, Painting By Ken.
At the age of 16, with the help of other quality professionals, I began wall papering and have learned drywall taping, carpentry, tile repairs, and pressure washing. Most of what I’ve learned has come from being involved with the close family business and countless 2nd and 3rd cousins, who have helped me accumulate well over 200 years of knowledge in the painting field. Throughout my career, I’ve taken on just about any painting project you could imagine: stripping woodwork, burning off old paint, bronzing, stencil work, gold leaf work, and also painting brickwork, old aluminum siding, and kitchen cabinets. I’ve done replacement work on siding, exterior wood trim, soffets, decks, window, and door casings (both inside & out), baseboards, and shed roofs. Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for quality work and attention to detail.
Painting By Ken’s main focus is residential property but on occasion we do work on commercial property. I work primarily around Schenectady, Albany, Clifton Park, Saratoga, and Troy, but do travel elsewhere. I even have clients in California, Connecticut, and North Carolina! I have many customers who own rental 2-familiy or multi-unit dwellings that have to be taken care of in between tenants. Many times I’m called to fix or redo work that was done incorrectly, either because the painter or contractor didn’t know how to do the work properly, or short cuts were taken to meet a certain price point. I will not take short cuts on a job because all too often the quality is sacrificed.
Please remember, when you contact Painting by Ken, you’ll always be dealing with me, and I will be bringing 200+ years of experience to the job to make sure it is done correctly.
Thanks for visiting.
